FAQ - frequently asked questions
What can be counted with Scientific Counter?
Scientific Counter was originally developed for mutagenicity tests and counting bacterial colonies. Today, the software can detect many separate structures if their shape and/or color is sufficiently uniform.
Which images are suitable?
The relevant features must be clearly visible in the image. Constant acquisition conditions are especially important. If you are unsure, send representative images for the free image check.
What hardware is recommended?
Scientific Counter runs on standard PCs with current Windows 11 versions. We recommend a modern PC with at least 8 GB of RAM and a high display resolution, ideally 1920 × 1080 pixels or higher.
Which image formats are supported?
Supported formats include JPG/JPEG XR, BMP, PNG, TIF/TIFF. For very small structures, images should preferably not be JPEG-compressed. For analysis, images are converted to a 24-bit RGB format.
Can the analysis be automated?
Fully automatic analysis can be useful for large image volumes. Datinf Robot software can be used for this. Please contact Datinf for details.
What happens if suitable settings are difficult to find?
Datinf checks the suitability of your images and supports parameter setup. For new customers, an initial adjustment is included if suitability for the standard software has been confirmed.
